ROMA – FAR | Il Festival dell’Architettura di Roma
The PNA initiative continues in Rome, where the network joins forces with FAR – the Rome Architecture Festival – forging a new link with the worlds of architecture, design culture and professional training.
Organised by the Order of Architects PPC of Rome and its province and the Casa dell'Architettura, FAR was established with the aim of fostering a renewed culture of design, linking architecture, the city, public space and the community.
For PNA, this is a new opportunity to place natural stone at the centre of the debate, engaging in dialogue with architects, designers and professionals, and sharing knowledge, experiences and real-world examples.
On 2 October, natural stone will take centre stage for a whole day, featuring guests, presentations and discussions dedicated to the role of this material in contemporary design.
The aim is to explore its expressive, structural and technological potential, tracing its history from the past right up to the present day through discussions with contemporary designers. Through accounts of experiences, projects and construction processes, the event will illustrate how design engages with the material's characteristics, processing techniques and the knowledge handed down through building traditions.

The Casa dell’Architettura, headquarters of the Rome Order of Architects, is one of the key venues of the FAR and provides the natural setting for an event dedicated to the relationship between materials, architecture and design.

Case Histories of Stone Design Projects
Moderated by Marco Maria Sambo, director of AR Magazine
A conversation among designers who have used stone in their work, treating the material as a generative element of the project rather than a simple cladding.
Rete PNA. Authentic Natural Stone
The session will present case studies recounting experiences, production processes and innovations related to the use of stone in contemporary architecture, highlighting the relationship between design, industry and building tradition.
The talk will explore the future of construction through the relationship between innovation, technology and natural materials, with particular focus on natural stone and its potential in contemporary design — from sustainability and durability to new technological possibilities.
THE PROJECTS
Through a number of projects carried out in different contexts and locations, PNA demonstrates how natural stone can meet contemporary needs, combining performance, research, design culture and architectural expression.
