In Sirmione, from June to October, the new edition of the event promoted by the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani brings together local craftsmanship and contemporary creativity in one of Lake Garda’s most evocative locations
Since 2007, PIETRA&Co. has been one of the longest-running and most significant events in Italy’s public art scene. Promoted by the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani in collaboration with the Municipality of Sirmione, the 2025 edition reaffirms and renews the cultural value of stone, placing it at the heart of an artistic journey through public spaces, historical sites, and lakeside landscapes.
Until October, the project “Identity in Noise and Silence” unfolds along a scenic route stretching from Punta Grò to the Grotte di Catullo, passing through beaches, gardens, churches, parks, libraries, hotels, and iconic locations in the town of Sirmione. The initiative originated from an idea by the late artist and curator Lillo Marciano, and has been made possible thanks to a synergy between local institutions, the Lombardy Regional Directorate of National Museums, and technical partners, with the continuous support of the Consorzio.
The title chosen for this year reflects the dual nature of stone, a shared language between those who work it daily and those who interpret it through contemporary art. The more than 20 artists selected by curators Paola Cavalli and Valentina Marciano are: Anja Luithle | Angelo Confortini | Anna Gabbiani | Armida Gandini | Barbara Crimella | Barbara Ventura | Cracking Art | Dorothy Bhawl | Felice Martinelli | Ferdinando Lombardi | Francesco Paterlini | Franco Ghirardi | Gianpietro Moretti | Johan Friso’ | Johannes Pfeiffer | Lillo Marciano | Marco Paghera | Renzo Nucara | Rita Siragusa | Roberta Susy Rambotti | Stefano Arienti | Timea Deak | Tiziano Ronchi | Tommy Sper; a lineup that includes both established names and young talents from the digital and performance art scenes.
But PIETRA&Co. is not just an exhibition, it’s a cultural project that creates value for the region and the stone industry, promoting the excellence of Brescian stone beyond production and commercial boundaries. Each edition reinforces the role of material culture in shaping collective identity, striking a balance between local roots and global vision.
The official inauguration took place on June 5 at Parco Callas, with a public theatrical and musical performance. Since then, the exhibition route has continued to attract visitors, tourists, and art lovers, guiding them through a contemporary stone heritage.
