Marble becomes shape – What Demetrio Paparoni thinks of natural stone

Demetrio Paparoni, art critic, editor and academic, explains how natural stone has always been a privileged material, which in the hands of artists translates into forms that have exemplary meanings.

This is even more true in contemporary art: since last century, art no longer has the task of reproducing and imitating nature. Therefore the “forms” that arise from the processing of the material are full of even more pregnant conceptual meanings.

Paparoni explains it to us through the works of two contemporary artists such as Maurizio Cattelan and Nicola Samorì.
