Giovanni Santamaria’s metabolic approach is the key through which he frames architecture within a broader perspective on Landscape and Ecological Urbanism. Today, a holistic vision of construction—one that considers both social and ecological aspects—is more necessary than ever, and natural stone must be part of that vision. This is the context for Santamaria’s participation in the PNA International Forum with the seminar RE-MAPPING TRANSITIONAL STONESCAPES, which will take place at 12:30 PM on June 13 in the Aula Magna Tolentini at IUAV University in Venice. Education is, after all, Santamaria’s primary field of action: he has taught architectural theory and urban design at the Politecnico di Milano, participating in EU-funded projects, and currently teaches at the NYIT School of Architecture and Design, where he also serves as Associate Dean for Academic Operations. He has also been a member of the AIA NYC Post-Sandy Design Committee and served on the Fulbright Committee.
