The first leg of “Pietra in Movimento,” the series of events dedicated to stone and promoted by PNA, has come to a successful close.
Textural quality, elegance, adaptability, ethics. These are the keywords that served as a common thread throughout the day of dialogue and debate organized in the Tuscan capital to spread knowledge and appreciation of this material throughout the region. In the heart of Florence, “Pietra in Movimento” welcomed professionals from the worlds of art and architecture, design enthusiasts, and connoisseurs of the material for an afternoon of discussion that also highlighted concrete projects utilizing this material.
An initial technical overview served as the introduction to the presentation of five projects of international scope. These ranged from projects in the provinces to urban transformation initiatives, from architecture conceived as an act of mimesis within the surrounding landscape to structures that are instantly recognizable within the urban fabric in which they are embedded. A wide variety of themes and typologies—both morphological and functional—was showcased on this occasion. The discussion focused not only on stone as a technology and material for contemporary architecture but also—and above all—on stone as a tool for strengthening and grounding the connection to and attention toward what lies beyond the strictly design-oriented boundaries: the Genius Loci.
A thoughtful and bold exchange that gave continuity and voice to a dialogue that began in June 2025 in Venice. A concrete example of a stone that evolves, changes, spreads, and engages not only with its own history but also with contemporary architecture.
