Najla El Zein is one of the key figures in the Do You Stone Art? section of the PNA International Forum Stone is…
El Zein will bring pure creativity and firsthand experience, thanks to her emerging career as an international artist and designer. Born in Beirut in 1983, she now lives and works in Amsterdam, while her works are part of some of the world’s most prestigious museum collections (including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the St. Louis Art Museum) as well as Doha’s urban fabric (thanks to the permanent public installations completed in 2022 for Qatar Museums). Her works—characterized by sensual, human forms and made of eternal, solid materials—have been exhibited in dozens of solo and group shows around the world, featured in various biennials and festivals, and selected by publications such as AD and Dezeen.
Recently the subject of a feature article in Domus, El Zein will share her vision during the talk STONE, A LIVING MATERIAL, taking place on June 12 at 12:30 p.m. in the Aula Magna Tolentini at IUAV University in Venice, becoming a spokesperson for the unique qualities of stone in art and design. In the same section of the Forum, the authoritative voice of Angela Vettese will explore the relationship between art and stone from a critical and theoretical perspective.
