Marmi e Graniti d’Italia S.r.l.

MGI GROUP, SHAPING MARBLE WITH A SURPRISING FUSION OF NATURAL STONE, ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN, AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES.

Unique pieces. Noble materials. Timeless beauty. These are the keywords that guide MGI, a prominent Italian Group that, since 1948, has been a leader in the international stone industry.

MGI is a company in constant evolution and growth, establishing itself as an enterprise that includes Sicilmarmi Srl, founded by the Cavaliere del Lavoro Dr. Giacomo Caruso known for extracting the Perlato Sicilia Cofano® in the quarry of Custonaci (TP); Lombarda Marmi Srl, excellence for the extraction of Botticino Classico®; Marmi e Graniti d’Italia Srl, a company that specializes in the worldwide supply of semi-finished and cut-to-size luxury interior design projects from London to Dallas and New York City.

Their selection of premium raw materials directly from the quarry, specialized artisans, intrinsic elegance, and attention to detail are the founding concepts of all MGI Group’s professionalism.

The development of advanced technologies and aesthetic research, accompanied by a passion for traditional craftsmanship, is the fertile ground where company growth and global expansion ripens. All of the company’s marble manufacturing processes, from excavation to cutting of materials, are carried out according to ISO protocols and with an eye to the environment, trying to limit as much as possible the impact resulting from the transformation of stone products.

MGI’s direct control over their raw material allows monitoring at all stages of the manufacturing process, from the raw block to the finished product. Continuous investment in research and development is their guarantee of the best standards. The marble – extracted from privately-owned quarries – have been used for decades in some of the most exclusive buildings and residences around the world; from the precious and unmistakable Statuary Caldia® and Calacatta Caldia® to the White Carrara and Lapys Grey®, from Perlato Sicilia Cofano® to Riviera Beige®, from Botticino Classico® to Verde Issorie®, all representing the essence of the brand “Made in Italy” a symbol of unrivaled beauty, excellence, and trust.

This unique combination of experience and sensitivity in the excavation and processing of natural stone is the strength of MGI, which expertly employs its resources alongside architects, designers, and builders to realize innovative solutions. An evolutionary path expressed through architectural resolutions of high prestige and continuous research manifests itself in projects with timeless charm, in elegant shapes, with every detail encompassing a magnificent obsession, excellence.

1290 Avenue of the Americas
The marble Caldia® is the protagonist of the architecture seen at 1290 Avenue of the Americas, one of the most famous office buildings in New York City. Constructed in 1964, initially designed by Emery Roth & Son, 1290 Aoa was restored in 2013 by Moed de Armas & Shannon, who beautifully preserved the original elegance of the tower and enhanced its sophisticated charm.

The building covers an entire block in downtown Manhattan, between 51st and 52nd Streets, on the east side of 6th Ave. Completely covered in white marble, the prestigious entrance leads to 43 floors of offices, offering stunning views of Central Park and the New York City skyline.

The basis for this project’s design, won by the MGI Group, is the union between a material such as marble and artisanal attention.

The building’s main characteristic is the particular interior siding made with cut-to-measure panels for the walls and floors of the entire entrance area, including the north and south corridors leading to the elevators.

A desire for a soft color palette makes way for a neutral, delicate, and luminous marble with grey veins giving a luxurious look to the environment, especially once embellished with professional works of art.

For this project, MGI installed 3,000 m2 of sanded panels in Statuario Caldia®, the stone from the only quarry located in the province of Massa, Cava Rocchetta.

Thanks to a continuous synergy with the designers of this project, the MGI Group has been established as a company capable of realizing marble products, on a quest to combine new forms of expression and technical innovation, distinguished by the quality and availability of its materials.

A passion for natural stone, the strategic vision of medium to long term, and an eye for details lead MGI to ever-increasing collaborations with the most important architecture firms. These qualities, combined with mastery in using different materials, have paved the way for MGI Group to expand its business line to cut-to-size.
