Stefano Boeri Architetti

Architect and urban planner, Stefano Boeri is Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano and visiting professor at various international universities. In Shanghai he directs the Future City Lab at Tongji University: a post-doctoral research program that explores the future of contemporary metropolises from the point of view of biodiversity and urban forestry.

Biography:

In 2014 Stefano Boeri realized the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) in Milan, the first prototype of a sustainable residential building with facades covered with 800 trees and over 20,000 plants.

The Vertical Forest has received several international awards and recognitions and has now become a model for international projects aimed at rediscovering a new balance between the city and living nature.

The work of Stefano Boeri Architetti – studio based in Milan and with offices in Shanghai and Tirana – space from the production of urban visions to interior and product design, with a constant focus on the geopolitical and environmental implications of urban phenomena. Stefano Boeri Architetti is currently working on several international projects of Urban Forestry, among which the Vertical Forests in Paris, Lausanne, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Nanjing, and the Forest City all over the world, medium size urban settlements that will combine the challenge for energy self-sufficiency with the aim of increasing biodiversity and effectively improving air quality in urban areas, thanks to the multiplication of biological surfaces.
